Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain wax type thermostat with high cooling efficiency which can reduce an upper limit of temperature of cooling water of a vehicular engine from the conventional value of 123°C to 81°C or lower by interlocking with a cooling fan switch.
SOLUTION: Thickness of a side wall of a center hole of an elastic sealing spool 5 engaged with a rod 2 is extremely thinned. A spring constant of a return spring 13 is reduced to half by dispensing with a jiggle valve mechanism. An operation temperature range of a thermostat is concentrated on a state shifting area where wax 7 is changed from solid to liquid. An upper limit of water temperature is lowered to 81°C or lower by interlocking a cooling fan switch. A conventional flow amount of cooling water is doubled by the use of 50% of self potential or less.
