Title:
WEAR-RESISTANT ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01111833
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the above alloy having excellent hardness, strength and workability by subjecting the surface of a Ti-Mo-Nb alloy to a nitriding treatment.

CONSTITUTION: The Ti-Mo-Nb alloy having the compsn. consisting of, by weight, >45W60% Ti contents, 5W40% Mo and the balance Nb is produced by an arc melting method or powder metallurgy method. Said alloy is, for example, heated for 24W48 hr to 400W600°C in an N2 contg. gas such as ammonia gas and its surface is subjected to a nitriding treatment. The wear-resistant alloy consisting of TiN as a surface hardening layer, Mo for the improvement of wear resistance, having the wear resistance and hardness not inferior to those of the conventional WC-Co super sintered hard alloy and high-speed steel and furthermore having excellent workability can be obtd.
