To solve the problem that the conventional material obtained by incorporating sintered hard particles into a hard material is insufficient in wear resistance though the upper limit of the content of the sintered hard particles is 20 vol.%.
The sintered compact comprises sintered hard particles and a hard material. Then, the content of the sintered hard particles in the sintered compact is 20 to 50 vol.%, and, among them, the fine particles having a particle size of 3 to <20 μm are contained in A% by volume, and the coarse particles having a particle size of 20 to 100 μm are contained in B% by volume . The respective sintered hard particles are independent each other, and the relation of 1≤B÷A≤10 is satisfied between the values of A and B. Further, the sintered compact can have a double layer structure with the one whose thermal expansion coefficient lies in the middle between that of the wear resistant member and that of steel.
