Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a wear resistant sliding member of an internal-combustion engine by forming a wear resistant TiB2 coating film on the sliding part of a member without causing thermal deformation, degenerating the material or lowering the hardness.
CONSTITUTION: TiB2 having 3,000-3,300 Vickers hardness is formed by plasma chemical vapor deposition in 2-20μm thickness on the part of a constituent member of an internal-combustion engine brought into relative contact or sliding contact with its opposite member.
