Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a wear resistant structural material excellent in wear resistance by forming a surface layer part having an atomic compsn. different from that of the substrate of a Ti alloy on the surface of the Ti alloy.

CONSTITUTION: On the surface of the substrate B of a Ti alloy integrally with the substrate B, using the compsn. of 41%≤Al≤57% (by atom) and the balance Ti, a surface layer part S contg. a γ phase of ≥80% volume fraction Vf is formed. In this way, the objective structural member M of a Ti alloy having the small coefficient of friction and large baking critical loads is manufactured.
