To provide a weeding method obviating the necessity of weeding by handwork and by the use of any herbicide.
The weeding method comprises the following procedure. Water 2 is reserved on soil 1 and, at the same time a fibrous structure 3 is suspended underwater or allowed to float on the surface of the water. After several days, weeds 5a and 5b grow in the soil 1. After the main leaves 52a are developed from the sheath leaves 51a of a monocotyledonous plant 5a in the weeds, the water 2 is drained off. Then, the fibrous structure 3 falls on the surface of the soil 1, pressing down the grown weeds 5a and 5b. As a result of the fibrous structure 3's falling, it covers the soil 1, therefore the weeds 5a and 5b become difficult to carry out photosynthesis no longer. Thus, the weeds 5a and 5b wither eventually.
