To enable weft yarns to be precisely held and to maintain proper yarn tension until the finish of beating.
This weft-holding device 1 in a loom has a pair of holding parts 8 and 9 installed in a selvage position at the arrival side of a weft yarn 2 in weft insertion so as to face to each other by sandwiching a weft yarn-flying passage, and holds the weft yarn 2 by closing the holding parts 8 and 9 at the weft insertion time. At least one of the holding parts 8 and 9 has flexibility, and is constituted of thready members 20 having elasticity and installed along the weft yarn-flying passage so as to form a plurality of lines. The thready members 20 are relatively displaced by receiving a pressure of a opposite holding member 19 when holding the weft yarn 2, and installed so as to be mutually supported by the neighboring thready member 20 to precisely hold the weft yarn 2 and to maintain the proper weft yarn tension until the finish of the beating.
