PURPOSE: To provide the title method so designed that an opening necessary for inserting both wefts is formed through the reciprocating motion of a single opening plate in its linear direction to make the structure of the opening device simple.
CONSTITUTION: The first warp z1 is inserted under high tension through the guide slot 2 on an opening plate 1, and the second warp z2 is inserted under low tension through the hole 3 on said opening plate 1. The plate is then moved transversely to both the row and column directions of the warp group, and only the second warp z2 is moved together with said plate to effect opening. Weft inserting devices 6, 8 are then moved parallel in the row or column direction of the warp group while coinciding with the opening position for the warp z2, wefts x, y are then inserted between the warps z1 and z2.
