Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a weft insertion apparatus for a loom having a yarn holding apparatus keeping the excess length of a yarn to a short and constant length compared with conventional apparatus and decreasing the air quantity for blowing or sucking independent of the kind of weft to be woven into a fabric.
CONSTITUTION: The objective air-jet weft insertion apparatus is provided with a yarn gripping member 11 at the weft insertion side of the warp opening and with a yarn holding member 13 at the outside of the opening. The yarn holding member 13 is provided with a yarn holding gap 24 and a blowing or sucking nozzle 18. The end 4" of the weft 4 left in the opening 6 is blown or sucked into the yarn gripping gap 24. The weft insertion apparatus can shorten the blowing or sucking time of air and decrease the air consumption and the amount of waste yarn.
