Abstract:
Mounted in succession on a support 7 fixed to an end of the loom batten 2 remote from a weft insertion nozzle are a first weft detector 9, a weft suction device 10 and a second weft detector 11. An extractor finger 13 fixed to the frame of the loom, extends perpendicular to the weft insertion axis 5 between the outlet of the suction device 10 and the second detector 11. If a pick is too long, the suction device 10 presents the end of that pick to the second detector 11 which detects it when the end of the pick is caught by the finger 13 to disengage the end from the second detector during beating-up movement of the batten. A third detector may also be provided and the suction device 10 has two inlets 17, 18, which produce opposite rotary movements of the suction air to maintain the S or Z twist of the weft.
