Abstract:
PURPOSE:To realize the weight device for the plumb bob which enables a vertical measurement to be taken easily and speedily and is high in measurement accuracy by employing a double structure wherein one intermediate weight is arranged and suspended in small-viscosity liquid inside a weight having a transparent peripheral surface. CONSTITUTION:An upper weight 12 and a lower weight 3 are fitted in the upper and lower openings of a transparent hollow cylinder 1 respectively, the liquid 16 with small viscosity is charged in the cylinder 1, and the intermediate weight 8 is suspended in the liquid 16 with an intermediate thread 9 on the reverse surface side of the upper weight 12. While a finger is applied to the plumb bob device in the double structure to suppress its swing, the upward pointed part 12 of the lower weight 3 is aligned with the pointed end part 7 of the intermediate weight 8 indicating a vertical direction to securely know the vertical direction. The intermediate weight 8 is speedily placed in a stationary state since the low-viscosity liquid 16 provides braking operation for the swing, so that the vertical measurement can speedily and easily be taken.
