PURPOSE: To relieve the stress concentration of a weld zone with which welding ends in one time of welding pass in a plate thickness direction and to improve the strength of the weld zone by superposing welding overlays on the weld zone, thereby forming the weld zone to a smooth shape.
CONSTITUTION: A flange 3 and web 4 of a Tee welded joint are joined by electron beam welding 1. The joined part is perpendicular in this state and, therefore, the stress concentration arises. The welding overlays are smoothly superposed by multipass build-up welding so as to form the joint part of the Tee welded joint to such a joint shape as not to generate a straight line and the angle by the straight line where the stress concentration is liable to arise by a welding method, for example, submerged arc welding or shielded metal arc welding 2, exclusive of electron beam welding 1. As a result, the shapes of the welding route part and toe of weld of the Tee welded joint are formed to smoothly curved shapes. Further, smooth processing by grinding is preferably executed.
