To provide a welding device and method capable of controlling a weld quality with simple constitution.
When a current is made to flow on the welding places of the workpieces W1 and W2 between the first and second electrodes 12 and 13, the workpieces W1 and W2 are melted by a generated heat. The heat is transmitted from the workpieces W1 and W2 to the first and second electrodes 12 and 13 to elevate the temperature of a liquid discharged from the first electrode 12 through a discharge path 17. Accordingly, a difference is generated between the temperature of the liquid supplied to the first electrode 12 through a supply passage 16 and that of the liquid discharged from the first electrode 12 through the discharge path 17. A control part 26 determines that abnormality generates when the above temperature difference is not in a prescribed range. Since the temperature sensors 21 and 22 are set in the supply passage 16 and discharge path 17 in the electrode 12 positioned on the welding place in such a welding device 11, there is no need to position a temperature measuring instrument every welding place and thereby, the quality of welding can be controlled with simple constitution.
