To execute uniformized welding in a prescribed direction by determining the groove shape at each block position, correcting welding conditions in accordance with the deviation of the groove shape, and deciding the welding schedule correspondingly to the block position.
The welding conditions of grooves at plural places in a scheduled welding locus are defined in the memory, the groove shape at these plural points of the scheduled welding locus is detected and written in the memory. On the basis of the groove shape before and after the switching point in which no groove shapes are inputted between the plural places, the groove shape at the switching point is determined by means of an interpolation. The switching point and the plural points are used as break-points, the number of total blocks given to the scheduled welding locus is proportionally distributed. The groove shape between individual blocks is determined by means of the interpolation in accordance with the groove shapes and the block position within each section. The welding conditions are corrected correspondingly to the deviation of the determined groove shape against the reference shape and written in the schedule memory corresponding to the block position; thus, the scheduled welding locus is welded in accordance with the conditions on the memory.
