Abstract:
To provide a method and equipment that improves efficiency of welding process.
A groove 16 is made at the butt end of steel plates 10 and 12 to be connected to each other welding equipment 20 is moved along the groove 16 to weld the groove by a torch 24. The mounted on the equipment 20. A heating coil 36 is placed in front of the torch 24 in the welding direction of the equipment and is put into the groove. High-frequency current is sent through the coil 36 to induction-heat the end face (beveled face) of the steel plate 10, 12 ahead of-welding by the torch 24. The heating temperature is set at (400°C or above) at which melting of bevelled face is accelerated, in welding by the torch 24.
