To provide a welding method of an exhaust pipe to a flange for preventing gas leakage from a joint portion between the exhaust pipe consisting of two center-to-center halves and the flange.
The welding method of the exhaust pipe to the flange has a step of forming the end of the exhaust pipe with two halves 6, 7 mated and fitting the end of the exhaust pipe into a through-hole 4a formed in the flange 4, and a step of welding the halves 6, 7 to the flange 4 throughout their peripheries in the through-hole 4a. It comprises a step of forming a cut-out portion 12 at the front ends of mating portions 8, 9 of the two halves 6, 7 on their flange fitting sides and welding mutual areas where the mating portions 8, 9 cross a peripheral edge 4c of the through-hole 4a through the outer face sides of the halves 6, 7, and a step of welding the cut-out portion 12 to the flange 4 through the inside of the through-hole 4a. A welding bead 14 which is formed by welding the mating portions 8, 9 to the peripheral edge 4c of the through-hole 4a is overlapped with a welding bead 16 which is formed on the cut-out portion 12.
