To provide a wet toner composition having a polymer binder which is chemically grown in the form of copolymer binder particles dispersed in a liquid carrier.

The toner composition contains a polymer binder including at least one amphipathic copolymer comprising one or more S (solvated) material portions and one or more D (dispersed) material portions, with the component of the polymer binder comprising sufficient acidic and basic functional groups to provide a three-dimensional gel having controlled rigidity which can be reversibly changed into a fluid state by addition of energy. The toner composition is particularly suitable for an electrophotographic process of transferring an image from the surface of a photoconductor to an intermediate transfer material or directly transferring the image to a printing medium without forming a film on the photoconductor.
