To provide a wet friction material that has high dynamic friction coefficients and has excellent wear resistance.SOLUTION: A wet friction material is obtained by impregnating carbon fiber with thermosetting resin for heat curing. The carbon fiber nonwoven fabric contains carbon fiber and thermoplastic resin fiber. It is formed by wet papermaking. A fluctuation in a Frazier permeability is 8% or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
