PURPOSE: To facilitate the assemblage of a multiple disc clutch and the provision of an accurate braking force property through the selection of a load set on a braking spring and the spring constant by providing a braking means between a driven side member and a releasing means.
CONSTITUTION: Normally, a pressurizing plate 14 presses drive and driven clutch plates 10, 11 against a pressure receiving plate 12 with a force of a clutch spring 18 to make both clutch plates 10, 11 frictionally engage each other. A release member 20 advances when a clutch arm 23 is swung in the direction of arrow, and a lift member 16 also advances to release the pressurizing plate 14 from both clutch plates 10, 11 so that both clutch plates 10, 11 are disengaged from each other. When the advancing stroke of the release member 11 exceeds a predetermined value, a braking plate 19 is pressed against a braked plate 26 to compress the braking spring 28 and generate a braking force in a clutch inner 9. This braking force characteristics are easily determined by a load set to the braking spring 28 and the spring constant. Since the braking means will do only by being provided between the clutch inner 9 and release member 20, the assemblage is facilitated.
