Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of the desulfurization capability of absorbent liquid due to the lowering of the solubility of CaCO3 caused by the formation of CaCL2 in the SOx absoption process by inclusion of the carbonate of an alkaline metal in an absorbent liquid composed of aqueous CaCO3 suspension.

CONSTITUTION: Exhasut gas in brought into contact with an absorbent liquid composed of aqueous CaCO3 suspension and the carbonate of an alkaline metal, e.g., Na2CO3, etc., to absorb and remove SOx present. This method prevents the lowering of the solubility of CaCO3 due to C1-ion formed and accumulated with time in the absorbent liquid and therefore prevents the deteriotaion of the desulfurization capability of the liquid. The accumulation of C1- ion in the absorbent liquid is attributed to CaC12 formed by the addition of C1-in supply water to the process or the absorption of HC1 present in exhaust gas
