PURPOSE: To collect a supplied absorbing liquid by an absorbing part without downwardly flowing the same to a dust removal part, by providing trough shaped containers arranged in a state mutually staggered in an up-and-down direction and a means for collecting the absorbing solution flowing down along the side wall of the absorbing part to the lower part of the absorbing part.
CONSTITUTION: In a wet waste gas desulfurization apparatus, collectors 29 arranged to the lower part of an absorbing part 20 for absorbing and removing SOx in two alternately stages and a ring shaped trough 33 having an upwardly opened part is arranged to the inner periphery of the inner wall of the absorbing part 20. Exhaust gas having received dust removal treatment under cooling in a dust removal part is flowed though collectors 29A, 29B and receives the spraying of an absorbing solution in the absorbing part 20 to absorb and remove SOx in the exhaust gas. The absorbing solution flowing down along the side wall among liquid droplets having absorbed SOx is collected by the ring shaped trough 33 and the other liquid droplets falling through the central part of the absorbing part 20 are collected by the collectors 29A, 29B and the collected absorbing solution is returned to the recirculation tank of the absorbing part 20. By this method, the recirculated slurry of the absorbing tower is not downwardly flowed to the dust removal part and the amount of unreacted limestone in the recirculated slurry of the dust removal part is reduced without adding sulfuric acid to make it possible to enhance the purity of the byproduct gypsum.
