Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet wiper having a water-absorbing capacity equal to that of a cellulose fiber-made wet wiper, high in liquid retention rate, and capable of being dissolved or disintegrated in hot water after use.
SOLUTION: This wet wiper comprises a thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol fiber comprising a polyvinyl alcohol (A) having a viscosity average polymerization degree of 200-600, a saponification degree of 90-99.99 mol%, a mole fraction of the central hydroxy group of a three-hydroxy group chain in a vinyl alcohol unit expressed by a triad method of 70-99.9 mol% and a melting point of 160-230°C. Further, the thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol fiber contains an alkali metal ion (B) in an amount of 0.0003-1 pt.wt. in terms of sodium ion based on 100 pts.wt. of the component (A).
