Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device and its machining method that permit grinding operations to be performed without allowing any deviation in squareness between the brake disc mounting surface of a hub flange portion and a bearing in a shaft main body and that helps decrease in the number of machining processes.
SOLUTION: This wheel bearing device comprises a hub 11, an inner ring member 12, an outer ring 13 equipped with a bearing raceway surface, a rolling element 15, a nut 14 that secures the inner ring member 12, and a bolt 18 that secures a brake disc and wheel to a flange portion 11a of the hub 11. The brake disc 17 is mounted to a flange portion 11a on the inner side of the vehicle frame, while the wheel is mounted on the outer side of the vehicle frame. The bolt 18 forms external threads 18a and external threads 18b which are reverse threads with a thread diameter smaller than the former threads. Grinding operations of the inner side member 11 are performed by grinding simultaneously a surface 11e on the inner side of the vehicle frame and a raceway surface 11b of the flange portion 11a.
