To provide a wheel bearing device that achieves suppression of circumferential backlash and is superior in connection workability between a hub ring and an external joint member of a constant-velocity universal joint, and also, superior in strength due to stable fitting between the hub ring and the external joint member of the constant-velocity universal joint, and an axle module using such a wheel bearing device.
An axially-extending protruding part 35 is provided on either one of the outer-diameter face of a shaft part 12 of an external joint member and the inner-diameter face 37 of a hole part 22 of a hub ring 1. The protruding part is press-fitted to the other of the outer-diameter face of the shaft part and the inner-diameter face of the hole part along in the axial direction. A recessed part 36 adhered and fitted to the protruding part 35 is formed by the protruding part 35 in the other of the outer-diameter face of the shaft part and the inner-diameter face of the hole part so as to configure a recess-projection fitting structure M in which the whole area of the fitting contact part between the projecting part 35 and the recessed part 36 is stuck. The external joint member is provided with a mouth part 11 internally mounted with an internal joint member and a shaft part 12 protrudingly provided from the bottom wall of the mouth part 11. The outer-diameter face of the mouth part 11 is formed with an inboard-side raceway face 29 of a roller bearing 2.
