To improve the heat release property of a disc brake and downsize the disc brake in a wheel drive mechanism for a vehicle in which a hollow in-wheel motor which drives the wheel and a disc brake which brakes the wheel are built in the rim of the wheel.
The wheel drive mechanism 40 for a vehicle has the wheel-driving in-wheel motor 50 and a wheel-braking disc brake 60 which are built in the rim 31 of the wheel 30. The in-wheel motor comprises a cylindrical outer rotor 51 which is fixed in the interior of the rim and a cylindrical inner stator 53 which is arranged in the interior of the outer rotor and connected with the vehicle body side. The disc brake comprises a disc-shaped hollow brake disc 61 which is directly mounted to the outer end 51a of the outer rotor in the vehicle width direction and a caliper 71 which is mounted to the outer end 53c of the inner stator in the vehicle width direction.
