To provide a wheel drive system for a vehicle capable of effectively improving efficiency of a traction motor.
The wheel drive system for a vehicle has the traction motor 20 having a stator 21 and a rotor 22 provided in a case 3 attached to a vehicle body, a rotor shaft 25, an output shaft 80 connected to a wheel via a wheel hub, and a speed reduction gear 30 provided between the rotor shaft and the output shaft. The wheel 120 of the vehicle is driven by the output shaft of the traction motor. It has a hydraulic pump 50 supplying lubricating oil to the stator and the speed reduction gear, a first oil pathway 100 supplying the lubricating oil to the stator from the hydraulic pump, a second oil pathway 200 supplying the lubricating oil to the speed reduction gear from the hydraulic pump, and a lubricating oil limiting means 63 for limiting supply of the lubricating oil to the first oil pathway during cold reserve of the wheel drive system.
