Abstract:

To provide a wheel-hub bearing unit capable of firmly fixing a braking member without causing deformation or stress concentration.

In an axially projected edge 12 provided on a radial flange 11 of an outer ring, a flange 21 of a braking member is held and fixed between a bent-up end 12' bent radially outward by rolling, and a radial edge 13 of the radial flange, which is directed radially outward and not deformed. With the wheel-hub bearing unit, the hardness of material of the axial edge is between about 200HV and about 300HV, the axial edge is projected from the flange 21 by the length (d) of 5mm or less before rolling, and the radial thickness (e) of the axial edge before rolling is between about 1mm and about 3.5mm. After rolling, the axial thickness (a) of the bent-up end of the axial edge is 3.5mm or less, and the axial thickness (c) of the radial edge exceeds the axial thickness (a) of the bent-up end after the deformation by rolling by x=0.4 to 1mm.
