Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel supporting bearing unit with an encoder in which a tight-sealing characteristic of a cover closing an axial inner end opening part of an inner space having an encoder mounted thereon is improved and at the same time a non-magnetic characteristic of the cover is prevented from being damaged and reliability in detection of a rotating speed is assured.SOLUTION: There are provided a cylinder part 20a and a flat plate part 21 extending from the cylinder part 20a in a radial inward direction, the cylinder part 20a is internally fitted and fixed to a fitting part 25 of an outer ring 7 and there is provided a non-magnetic plate cover adjacent to and oppositely faced against a detected surface of an encoder 1. An axial inner end part of the cylinder part 20a is formed with a slant part 26 whose diameter becomes small as it faces in an axial inward direction and seal material 30 is vulcanized and adhered to the outer circumferential surface of the slant part 26. The seal material 30 comprises an annular protrusion 31 whose diameter is larger than that of the fitting part 25, a large diameter ring 32 adjacent to the axial outward side of the annular protrusion 31 and having smaller diameter than that of the fitting part 25, and a small diameter ring part 33 adjacent to the axial inward side of the annular protrusion 31 and having a smaller diameter than that of the large diameter ring 32.
