Title:
WHEEL FOR VEHICLE EXCELLENT IN CORROSION RESISTANCE AND BRILLIANCY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3553288
Kind Code:
B
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the corrosion resistance and brilliancy of a wheel for a vehicle by forming a nonporous anodically oxydized film having prescribed thickness on a wheel material surface and applying a clear coating on the film.
SOLUTION: The wheel material consisting of Al alloy is subjected to an anodic oxidation treatment. Since an electrolytic bath used for the treatment is a neutral aqueous soln. containing boric acid salts, etc., which are electrolytes hardly dissolving generated anodically oxydized films, a problem of waste water like in case of chromate treatment is eliminated. The anodically oxydized film obtained under an appropriate electrolysis condition has 150 to 500 angstrom thickness, is uniform and nonporous and has < 10% vacancy ratio. Further, water content of the film is very low and ≤5% and anion content is also very low and 2wt.%. Sufficient corrosion resistance, brilliancy and adhesion property can be obtained by adjusting film characteristics within a range described above. Then, the clear coating is applied on the oxydized film as in the conventional manner. Thickness of the coating film is preferably 15 to 25μm in order to hold excellent corrosion resistance and brilliancy.
