Abstract:
To provide a technology of enabling a user of a wheelchair to change a travel direction of the wheelchair even by one hand.SOLUTION: Provided is a wheelchair travel direction operation mechanism for a wheelchair including: a pair of wheels attached to right and left of a seat part; and a pair of casters provided rotatably in a lateral direction in front of the pair of wheels. The wheelchair travel direction operation mechanism includes: a rotation shaft installed in a vertical direction above at least one of the pair of casters and having a lower end that is connected to the casters and axially rotates integrally along with rotation of the casters in the lateral direction; a direction operation lever connected so as to be swingable toward an upper end of the rotation shaft; and a direction holding part in which a plurality of recesses are juxtaposed in a peripheral direction so as to surround an outer periphery of the rotation shaft. When the direction operation lever is fitted to any one recess among the plurality of recesses, the lateral direction of the caster can be fixed in any direction via the rotation shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
