To provide a wheelchair with a movement prevention device which can selectively prevent a rolling movement to a valley side by a simple operation without needing a labor even when facing forward or backward.

The wheelchair with the movement prevention device includes a ratchet wheel 12 fixed to a wheel 2, T-shaped pawls 14 having a proximal end pivotally supported and two claws to be selectively latched to the ratchet wheel 12 in a distal end thereof, and a lever 24 to turn the pawls 14, and is composed to be selectable among a state that the pawl 14 and the ratchet wheel 12 are made to latch by an operation of the lever 24 to restrain the forward rotation of the wheel 2, a state that the pawl 14 and the ratchet wheel 12 are made to latch to restrain the backward rotation of the wheel 2, and a state that the pawl 14 and the ratchet wheel 12 are not made to latch to enable the rotation of the wheel 2 in the forward and backward direction.
