To provide a wheelchair having a function of assisting the motion of the legs when an elderly person whose physical strength is declined or a person who has commonly difficulty in walking due to injury or disease, moves the legs while riding thereon for strengthening the muscular strength or recovering the function.

This wheelchair comprises a body, traveling wheels, a seat and a footrest, and is driven by an electric power or a human power, wherein the footrest is operated by the driving force in at least one direction of the vertical, longitudinal and lateral directions.
