To provide a handy sharpening tool which is light and easy to handle.

To the whetstone 2 having hardened, a flange 4 and shank 5 are fixed so that an intended sharpening tool 1 is completed. This tool 1 is held by hand and the cutting edge of a knife is rubbed with the whetstone 2 in such a manner as wiping, and this allows sharpening of the cutting edge to a proper degree to lead to keeping its sharpness of cutting without risk of damaging the edge substantially.
