Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a whisker composite aluminum alloy casting having high hardness and excellent wear resistance and toughness in comparison with the composite metal using the ordinary metal porous body.

CONSTITUTION: By using plating liquid dispersing the whiskers 22 in a porous resin body provided with electric conductivity, the plating is applied to form a metal plating layer 21 sticking the whiskers 22 on the surface of the porous resin body. Thereafter, the resin is removed and the obtd. porous metal body is held in a mold and molten aluminum alloy 23 is poured into the mold to manufacture the alumnum alloy casting.
