To provide a wide angle lens that projects onto a screen and the like an enlarged image from a light valve such as a DMD for forming an image by changing a reflection direction of light, has high performance, has a small lens aperture, and is compact.
A wide angle lens is constituted of a first lens group having negative refractive power as a whole, a second lens group having positive refractive power as a whole, a third lens group having positive refractive power as a whole, and a fourth lens group having positive refractive power as a whole in this order from an enlargement side. The first lens group is constituted by arranging eight lenses including a negative lens having a convex shape, a negative lens, a negative lens, a positive lens, a positive lens, a negative lens, and a positive lens in this order from the enlargement side. The second lens group is constituted by arranging one positive lens or is constituted by arranging two positive lenses in this order from the enlargement side. The third lens group is constituted by arranging six lenses including a positive lens, a negative lens, a positive lens, a negative lens, a positive lens, and a positive lens in this order from the enlargement side. The fourth lens group is constituted by arranging one positive lens.
