PURPOSE: To provide a wide-angle lens system which obtains high resolution and a high contrast from long-distance photography-to short-distance photography.

CONSTITUTION: This wide-angle lens system is constituted by arraying a 1st negative meniscus lens L1, a cemented lens of a 2nd positive lens L2 which has a convex surface on the object side and a 3rd negative lens L3 which has a concave surface on the image side, a cemented lens of a 4th biconvex lens L4 and a 5th biconcave lens L5, a 6th positive lens L6 which has a convex surface on the image side, and a 7th negative meniscus lens L7 in order from the object side, and satisfies requirements (1)-(4). (1)-1.95<f1/f<-1.05. (2) 1.05<f23/f<3.60. (3) 1.10<f45<2.16. (4) 1.53<(r11+r10)/(r11-r10)<4.95. Here, (f) is the composite focal distance of the whole wide-angle lens system, f1 the focal distance of the 1st lens, f23 the composite focal distance of the 2nd lens and 3rd lens, f45 the composite focal distance of the 4th lens and 5th lens, r10 the radius of curvature of the 6th lens on the image side, and r11 the radius of curvature of the 7th lens on the object side.
