PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized wide angle lens having the number of lens of as few as five, minimized in the change of lens performance by temperature change, and having a large aperture and a wide field angle such as F2.8 and about 75 in which aberration is satisfactorily corrected.

CONSTITUTION: A meniscus first lens L1 having positive power and a convex face turned on an object side, a second lens L2 having negative power, a third lens L3 having positive power, a fourth lens L4 having positive power, and a fifth lens L5 having negative power are arranged in the order from the object side, and all the lenses are formed from glass material. When the focus distance of the whole lens is assumed to be (f), and the focus distance and Abbe number of the i-th lens are assumed to be fi, νi, respectively, each following condition expression is satisfied: (1) 1.2<f1/f<3.0, (2) 0.7<f3/f<2.0, (3) 0.5<f4/f<0.8, (4) 25<{(ν1+ν3+ν4)/3}-ν2.
