To realize a wide-band light source capable of a stable operation providing a less spectrum variation using so-called a noise-like laser.
Optical pulses 202 outputted from an optical pulse-generating device 201 are split by an optical coupler 210. One of split optical pulses is inputted into a white light-emitting device 204 and a wide band white light is generated there. The other is inputted into an optical band pass filter 212 in an operation-stabilizing circuit 207. An optical detector 213 detects the signal level of a specific wavelength and inputs into a feedback circuit 215 to generate a first and second feedback signals 205 and 206. A ring-resonator-type fiber laser 208 realizes stabilization of its output by controlling the rotation angle of a waveplate that is made by using any one of the signals.
