Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of aspect conversion in a wide television receiver.
SOLUTION: An automatic aspect conversion instruction button is provided to a remote control transmitter 6 and when the button is depressed, a remote control reception circuit 5 and a remote control analysis microcomputer 4 discriminate the depression to activate an image analysis circuit 1. The image analysis circuit 1 analyzes a luminance level of a received video signal to detect presence or the like of a masked part and gives the result of analysis to an aspect conversion circuit 2. The aspect conversion circuit 2 converts the aspect ratio of a video image displayed on a cathode ray tube 3 according to an instruction by the image analysis circuit 1.
