Abstract:

To produce the subject powder capable of manifesting regulation of cholesterol in blood or UV cutting effects and useful for cosmetics or the like by decomposing a wild silkworm cocoon envelope and/or a wild silk yarn with a phosphoric acid liquid, neutralizing the resultant material, then filtering the neutralized material with a vacuum pump, subsequently decoloring the resultant filtrate, concentrating the decolored filtrate and drying the prepared concentrate by the spray-drying.

A cocoon envelope or a wild silk yarn of one or more wild silkworms in Antheraea pernyi, Samia cyanthia ricini, Antheraea yamamai, Antheraraea mylitta and Antheraea assama or both are decomposed with a phosphoric acid liquid such as an 85% aqueous solution of phosphoric acid and the resultant material is neutralized, then filtered with a vacuum pump, subsequently decolored with active carbon, concentrated and then dried by spray-drying to afford a wild silkworm silk powder. The powder is preferably used for cosmetics, additive materials for health auxiliary foods and beverages.
