To prevent the brakage of the rib of an umbrella as much as possible in receiving a strong wind from the lower surface by fixing the end surface of an opening and closing cloth laid to overlap with a main cloth to the main cloth by a thread or the like to form an air port.

The canopy of a wind-breakage proof umbrella is formed of a main cloth laid to about the middle between the connecting part between 6 main rib 4 and a spreader 5 and a ferrule part 3 over the whole circumference or with a plurality of openings, and an opening and closing cloth 2 laid to overlap with the main cloth from the ferrule part 3. The end surface of the opening and closing cloth 2 is fixed to the main cloth in a position or a plurality of positions by a thread to form an air hole 6 in the clearance. When the umbrella receives the high wind pressure of a gust of wind or a strong wind upward from the lower side, the opening and closing cloth 2 is swollen by the strong wind to form the air port 6 between the main cloth and the opening and closing cloth 2, through which the strong wind is passed. After passing, the opening and closing cloth 2 is blocked to prevent the wetting. The main cloth is laid with the ferrule side opened, and the opening and closing cloth is overlapped so as to cover the opening part of the main cloth from the ferrule side to form the air port between the main cloth and the opening cloth, whereby the wind pressure can be reduced to prevent the wind breakage of the umbrella by the phenomenon of the umbrella being turned inside out.
