To provide a small sized wind power generation device improving scenery properties by enabling a wind turbine to rotate by gentle wind.
A control device 8 drives the wind turbine 1 for a short period of time for rotates the same by setting a switch 3 to a side (a) and using a generator 2 as a motor under wind speed with which a rotation sensor 11 can not detect rotation of the wind turbine. The device judged that it is gentle wind if the wind turbine 1 continues to rotate, and that it is no wind if the wind turbine 1 immediately stops rotation. Although the generator 2 is intermittently driven as the motor for a short period of time to accelerate rotation of the wind turbine in either case, energy obtained from an auxiliary electric power storage means 13 is saved by shortening intermittent cycle and increasing frequency of wind turbine rotation when it is determined as gentle wind, and extending intermittent cycle when it is determined as no wind.
