To provide a winding apparatus capable of preventing high friction from being applied to a loop of one lap during inserting a coil even if a coil of a plurality of poles is continuously wound by changing the rotational direction of a winding frame for each pole, in the winding apparatus which winds a plurality of electric wires around the winding frame in parallel to form a coil.
This winding apparatus comprises a nozzle for delivering the plurality of electric wires in parallel the winding frame 40 which rotates the wires so as to wind them by clamping, a wire retaining fixture having a plurality of guide rods disposed below the winding frame 40, and a wire receiving/delivering means. The winding frame 40 is provided with a pair of right and left winding clamps 73, 74, and the winding frame clamp for retaining the wires is selected depending upon the rotational direction of the winding frame 40.
