This winding apparatus is obtained by installing a secondary winding roll 16 for wrapping a cloth, a press roll 18, located parallel to the secondary winding roll 16 and brought into pressure contact with the outer periphery of the secondary winding roll 16, and a cloth winding roll 22 for winding the cloth at a position separate from the press roll 18. The secondary winding roll 16 and the press roll 18 are respectively driven at the same outer peripheral speed in mutual opposite rotative directions with driving transmission devices 28 and 23 installed separately from the pressure contact part of the secondary winding roll 16 and the press roll 18. Cloths 12 and 14 in a state thereof under a tension applied thereto in the weaving direction are inserted between the secondary winding roll 16 and the press roll 18, passed through the secondary winding roll 16 and the press roll 18, fed to the cloth winding roll 22 and wound thereto.
