Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance productivity by preventing the cutting of a web or the stop of a rotary press generated heretofore by the winding of a paper splicing part around a blanket cylinder and dispensing with the work removing the web wound around the blanket cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: When a web enters a printing unit 3, a solvent or damping water is prayed on both side parts (e.g. both side parts of the paper splicing part of preceding taken-up paper and next taken-up paper) of a web by a solvent sprayer or a damaping water sprayer to be infiltrated into the web. When this web is passed through the nip between upper and lower blanket cylinders 4a, 4b, the transfer of the ink accumulated on both side parts of plates 6a, 6b each wider than the web to the web is prevented by the solvent or damping water to prevent the winding of the web around the upper and lower blanket cylinders 4a, 4b.
