To provide a winding unit of an automatic winder capable of reliably guiding a yarn end on a package side to a yarn splicing part and enhancing the production efficiency of the package.

The winder unit 10 has an upper yarn guide pipe 26 which captures an upper yarn 90 unwound from a package 30 turned in the reverse direction by a drum driving motor by a suction mouth 34, and guides it to a splicer device. Further, the winder unit 10 comprises a stepping motor 41 for turning the upper yarn guide pipe 26, and a control unit. The control unit controls the stepping motor 41 so that the suction mouth 34 capturing the yarn is moved at the speed V2 equal to or lower than the speed V1 at which the yarn is unwound from a yarn layer by the reverse turn of the package 30.
