PURPOSE: To provide a window system excellent in workability and capable of easily referring the window state shown by each icon within a short time.

CONSTITUTION: This system is equipped with a display device which display a window 22, an icon 23, and a cursor 31 or the like in a display screen 21, a pointing device having a switch 32 which searches the position of the cursor 31 displayed in the display device, and inputs an instruction and keyboard which inputs characters, numeric values, and command or the like, and is used for a computer. And also, the system is equipped with a window referring means which display the window 22 shown by the icon 23 on the display device when the cursor 31 is moved on the icon 23 and the switch 32 of the pointing device pressed, and erases the display of the window 22 in the display device when the cursor 31 is moved while the switch 32 is released or pressed.
