PURPOSE: To facilitate lighting by furnishing a windshield of a lantern with a lighting hole.

CONSTITUTION: A lighting hole is provided at the side face of a windshoeld 2 in cylindrical form, and a hole having such a diameter as permitting the passage of the match head is provided at the position of the wick of a usual candle. The slot width of the lighting hole should be such as to easily admit threading of a match stem, or to allow accommodating the flame of a lighter. The flame is approached to the position of wick while the powder of the match is burning, and thus lighting is made. The slot has such a length as stretching up and down from the center which lies in the position of the candle wick. If the position of the lighting hole 1 is shifted from the center about up and down, it can work well with two sorts of candle lengths. The windshield 1 is covered with a ventilation lid so that it can sustain winds, and a suction port is furnished in the lower part to feed oxygen for combustion.
