PURPOSE: To stop a wiper blade at a predetermined position so as not to obstruct the field of vision all the time when it is out of wiping operation in a compression driving wiper.

CONSTITUTION: In a compression driving wiper consisting of pistons 2a, 2b provided in a cylinder 1, a wiper 5 coupled through rack and pinion and a directional control valve 7 to actuate it, locking cylinder pistons 10, 11 are mounted on one end of the cylinder, and a circuit 13 through to the cylinder and a wiper driving circuit are connected through a directional control valve 14. The directional control valve 14 is kept at a position as illustrated when the wiper operates, and the directional control valve 14 is changed to a position through to a compression tank 9 and the circuit 13, thereby keeping the wiper at a position not to abstruct the field of vision all the time.
