PURPOSE: To provide a wire cut electric discharge machining device improving machining efficiency without getting out of machining even with the frequent disconnection of a wire electrode during machining.
CONSTITUTION: According to a machining program stored in a RAM, a moving device moves a wire electrode in relation to a workpiece 1 so that machining proceeds in a direction E along a machining locus 51 from a wire electrode insert hole 1a, which is a wire electrode suspended position, through an entering position 51a. In the case of the wire electrode being disconnected during machining, a CPU moves the workpiece 1 into the wire electrode suspended position for the recovery suspension of the wire electrode and resumes machining from the disconnected position after the recovery stretching of the wire electrode. In case the wire electrode is disconnected five times or more in one machining, the CPU disposes the wire electrode in a machining end position, which is the same position as the entering position 51a, from the wire electrode stretching position after the recovery stretching of the wire electrode, and controls in such a way as to perform machining in a direction F toward a disconnected position 51b from the machining end position.
